My Opinon

I think the United States should have mandatory recycling laws. After researching the issue, I found a lot of great reasons to have mandatory recycling laws. First, the U.S. will be cleaner. By making everyone recycle there will be less water and wildlife pollution. The U.S is always trying to make it a cleaner and safer place. The laws will make everyone recycle, so there will be an increase in recycling. The consequences for not recycling will force everyone to recycle.  When there is an increase in recycling, there is an increase in it's benefits. There will be a significant decrease in what goes in to the landfill. Landfill costs will than go down because there will not  be a lot less trash. Because recycling is expensive and I agree with the opposing side on that reason, the government should come up with ways to make it less expensive. The U.S could sell some of our recyclables to other countries who are willing to buy them. By selling the recyclables, the U.S. can make a profit to help pay off the costs. Also there could be less frequent recyclable pickups. If there are not as many recyclable pickups than we would pay less for the gas and miles the workers will drive the trucks.

My position will impact the economic system because having mandatory recycling in the U.S. will create more jobs. By in forcing mandatory recycling laws in the U.S., it will create more jobs. When there are more jobs in the economy, less people are employed. If there is more people employed in the economy then they can put the money they made back into the economy. This will create a strong economy. Since more people will be recycling, there will be more recyclables and those recyclables can go to businesses. There is a demand for certain products being made out of recyclable materials. The businesses that make or sell these products do not have to worry about not having enough recyclables.

This is a video that humorously shows what it would be like if  mandatory recycling was in effect,  the government would make sure everyone is recycling the right way, (start- :40, end- 1:25)
